Candidates Endorsed by ABC |
|
To the editor:
|
| The Alliance for a Better Community (ABC) has enthusiastically
endorsed three excellent and talented young leaders for the
three seats in the upcoming election for the Reston Association
Board: Sunder Briar Cluster past-President Robin Smyers for
the Lake Anne-Tall Oaks seat, incumbent Douglas Bushée for
the North Point seat, and Co-Chair of the Save Lake Newport
and President/CEO of TracerNET Corporation Rick Beyer for
the At-Large seat. |
| They are exceptionally strong candidates representing a
new generation of leadership for the community and the Reston
Association, leadership needed now as the community approaches
the crucial referendum on our governing documents. They are
the kind of candidates who will continue ABC's record of winning
support for positive leadership to make Reston an even greater
place to live, work, and play. |
| Robin Smyers is a second generation Restonian, a 1982 graduate
of South Lakes High School, a member of RA's Design Review
Board, full of energy, and a born leader. |
| Doug Bushée has served as RA's liaison to the Greater Reston
Chamber of Commerce, as a member of RA's Planning and Evaluation
Committee, the Transportation Committee, and Chair of the
Legal Committee, and has been a hard-working spokesperson
for the interests of his North Point constituents. |
| Rick Beyer has been a leader in the very successful Friends
of Reston fundraising drive to build the Nature House, a very
"green" environmental education center about to be built in
RA's Nature Center. |
| As Chairman of the Board of Olivet College he transformed
the college so that within two years it produced its first
operating surplus in over a decade. Success included record
enrollment, productivity, quality and capacity improvements,
reinvestment in infrastructure and a very bright outlook for
the future. |
| We urge your support for these three candidates for the
RA Board of Directors. |
