Elden Players Win |

| The Reston Community Players collected eight awards, including
outstanding musical, for their production of "Beauty
and the Beast" at the Washington Area Theater Company Honors
awards Feb. 26. |
| The Elden Street Players in Herndon won nine awards, eight
of them, including outstanding play, for "The Weir" and
one for "The Mystery of Irma Vep." |
| The Reston Players' "Beauty and the Beast" received
the most nominations, 23, ever for a single production. The
Reston group received 25 nominations and the Elden Street
Players received 24 nominations. Both theater groups swept
the night with a combined 17 awards. |
| There were 26 participating community theater companies,
99 productions and dozens of hopefuls at The Birchmere in
Alexandria Feb. 26 for the sixth annual WATCH awards. |
| Each year, WATCH invites people to judge the theater productions
put on by each community group. In all, 10 judges are chosen
to attend shows randomly and travel around the metropolitan
Washington, D.C., area critiquing plays and grading them on
a point scale. |
