Herndon Police are the Finest
To the editor:
All too often we, as citizens, focus on the shortcomings of our governments. The headlines and editorial pages are full of reports of bureaucratic waste, bungling and corruption. Sadly, we fail too often to acknowledge the many fine things that our civil servants do for us.
As manager of Herndon Automotive, I found it necessary to seek the support of the Herndon Police twice in the last year. Last April our friend senior technician, Ron Killion, failed to report to work. When Ron uncharacteristically had not called in sick, my concern was aroused. My efforts to contact him were futile, yet both of his cars were at home.
I went to the Herndon Police station, expressed my fears and asked for help. The response was immediate and laudable. When the worst was confirmed, they informed the next of kin. The Herndon Police provided professional and compassionate support to the family. Ron's cherished dog, Harley, was immediately cared for and placed in the best possible home. I can think of nothing more that they could have done in the worst of times.
Recently, Herndon Automotive was defrauded a significant sum of money by a bad check. The Herndon Police were contacted once again. The response was instant and effective. An arrest warrant was issued for grand larceny. Thanks to the efforts of the Herndon Police, restitution has been made.
I would like to commend the constabulary of the Herndon Police Department for their professionalism. It is a standard to which everyone should aspire.
Alan Anthony
Manager, Herndon Automotive
