Waddell Thanks Supporters
To the editor:
Every two years in Herndon, we're reminded of where true power in a representative democracy resides with the electorate. Election Day serves as this reminder. The 2008 Herndon town election has concluded; it has been analyzed and it has been reported on. The one piece of business remaining is to recognize the many people involved in the process and there are many.
First and most importantly, I wish to thank everyone who took the time to research the candidates, the candidates` position on the issues and all who turned out to cast their vote. Regardless of who you voted for, a hearty thanks. Election days are special days and should be so. They are the hallmark of a free society.
Next, I wish to thank everyone who participated in the process; from the election officials to the volunteers who assisted in many of the support tasks. Your efforts make the election process a smooth one. I also wish to thank everyone who declared their candidacy for office and those who helped these candidates. Your commitment to our community is inspiring. I look forward to serving Herndon for the next two years. I solicit and welcome your input and I reaffirm my pledge to do what is best for our community.
Charlie Waddell
